Dublin commuters will be able to ride a single bus from Bridge Park to downtown Columbus without transferring starting Sept. 7.

The Central Ohio Transit Authority will extend Line 1 Kenny north from its current terminus at Carriage Place to the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Outpatient Care Dublin facility at 6700 University Boulevard, according to a city press release. The extension creates a one-seat ride between Dublin and downtown Columbus, eliminating the transfer that riders currently need.

That extra step is gone.

COTA will use a temporary stop on westbound University Boulevard near the medical facility while construction wraps on the permanent boarding location. The temporary stop is expected to stay in place about three weeks before riders shift to the final spot.

Park and ride moving temporarily

The Dublin Park and Ride is also relocating on Sept. 7, shifting to a temporary location at 6620 Dale Drive, near the corner of Dale Drive and Bridge Park Avenue. Dublin's Planning and Zoning Commission is reviewing a conditional use application from Crawford Hoying for the interim lot.

The current park-and-ride sits on the J Block site that Crawford Hoying is developing into The Ellis, an 89-unit condominium building, plus office space, retail and a parking garage, NBC4 reported. A second condo building is planned for the site once the park-and-ride lot vacates.

Background

COTA secured state funding for the new transit connection in November 2025, according to the Dublin Chamber of Commerce. The transit authority held a public open house Tuesday, Aug. 25, for riders to learn about the Line 1 extension and other upcoming service changes, the Columbus Dispatch reported.

The OSU Outpatient Care Dublin facility that becomes the new northern terminus is a 272,000-square-foot building that opened in 2022 and now handles nearly 2,000 patient encounters daily. Dublin City Council on July 1 approved a deal allowing Ohio State to buy 16.3 acres nearby for approximately $2.93 million to build a Phase II medical building of at least 150,000 square feet. Dublin Director of Economic Development Jeremiah Gracia called the agreement a reflection of "the continued strength of Dublin's partnership with The Ohio State University" when council approved it.

The permanent boarding location near OSU Outpatient Care Dublin is expected to open about three weeks after the Sept. 7 launch.
