Olentangy Liberty shut down Dublin Coffman 31-3 on Friday, Sept. 25, handing the Shamrocks their fifth straight loss. The Columbus Dispatch confirmed the final among its Week 6 scores.

The OCC-Central Division opener at Liberty in Powell was lopsided from the start. Liberty led throughout.

Coffman Athletics posted score updates on X throughout the night. Liberty built a 14-0 halftime lead. Coffman managed a field goal in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 21-3 with 3:40 left in the period. That was as close as the Shamrocks would get. Liberty pushed the margin to 28-3 early in the fourth quarter and added a late field goal for the 31-3 final.

The loss dropped Coffman to 1-5 overall and 0-1 in OCC-Central play. Head coach Nick McVay's squad has lost every game since a 51-27 season-opening win at Bishop Hartley on Aug. 21. The five-game skid includes losses to Big Walnut (39-7), Dublin Jerome (45-28), Pickerington North (35-0), Grove City (42-35) and Liberty. In that Grove City loss on Sept. 18, Greyhounds running back Blaike Jackson rushed 44 times for 436 yards and four touchdowns, according to Litter Media.

Liberty (3-3, 1-0 OCC-Central) has won three straight after an 0-3 start. The Patriots lost to St. Edward 15-12, Glenville 34-13 and Lincoln 14-13 before beating Olentangy Berlin 27-17 on Sept. 11, Olentangy 17-14 on Sept. 18 and Coffman. As of Sept. 27, MaxPreps ranked Liberty No. 27 in Ohio and No. 12 in Division I.

The OHSAA regular season ends Friday, Oct. 23. As we reported Sept. 24, Dublin's football programs trailed the playoff cutoff in the first OHSAA computer ratings. At 1-5 with four regular-season games left, Coffman faces a steep climb.

Coffman hosts Olentangy Orange on Friday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. Orange opened OCC-Central play with a 25-6 win over Hilliard Davidson on Sept. 25 and stands at 3-3 overall, 1-0 in the division, according to the Delaware Gazette.
