Dublin-area college students can apply for a paid state internship that pays at least $15 an hour and runs from Nov. 1, 2026, through April 30, 2027.

The Dublin Chamber of Commerce is promoting the College Technology Internship Program, administered by the Ohio Third Frontier, a program of the Ohio Department of Development. Student applications opened Sept. 1 and close Sept. 25.

The program places students with Ohio technology companies for hands-on work in engineering, software development, marketing and design. Students studying any major can apply, including business, communications and design fields.

Internships start Nov. 1. The state sets a $15-per-hour minimum wage for interns, though companies can pay more. Students are hired as W-2 employees, not contractors.

To qualify, applicants must be Ohio residents attending college anywhere in the U.S. or non-Ohio residents enrolled at an Ohio college or university. International students at Ohio schools can also apply with proof of work eligibility and a valid visa.

On the employer side, the state reimburses participating companies for two-thirds of each intern's wages, up to $7,500 per intern, according to the Ohio Department of Development's program page. Companies can hire up to 10 interns per round. Company applications for this winter round also close Sept. 25.

Lydia Mihalik, director of the Ohio Department of Development and chair of the Ohio Third Frontier Commission, said in August 2025 when the prior winter round opened that the program "… allows companies to recruit local talent while helping shape the next generation of innovators and launch meaningful careers right here in Ohio."

The state reimburses only W-2 wages. If an intern is classified as a contractor or 1099 employee, the company cannot receive reimbursement.

The Sept. 25 deadline applies to the winter round only. A separate summer round opens company applications in January.
