Dublin has started building a shared-use path along Shier Rings Road. The path will close a gap in the city's pedestrian and cycling network, connecting trails from Avery-Muirfield Drive to Cosgray Road.

The path runs along the south side of Shier Rings Road between Eiterman Road and Cosgray Road. The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission announced a groundbreaking celebration on Aug. 28 to mark the start of construction.

Washington Township secured LinkUS grant funding in 2020, and the city included the path in its 2022–2026 Capital Improvement Program. In 2024, Dublin and Washington Township signed an agreement to share construction and maintenance responsibilities.

Dublin City Council voted 7-0 on Feb. 23 to authorize the city manager to acquire easements and warranty deeds from nine property owners along Shier Rings Road and Shier Lane, clearing the way for construction. The trail will be open to the public at no charge, according to council records.

"It would be a great connection for that part of the City," Mayor Chris Amorose Groomes said at the Feb. 23 council meeting, when the easement ordinances received their first reading.

The city awarded the construction contract to J & J Schlaegel, Inc. on May 26. The city's construction updates page listed a mid- to late-July start, but the groundbreaking celebration took place Friday, Aug. 28. The city notes the schedule is subject to change.

Beyond the path itself, the project includes drainage improvements such as new storm sewer pipe and structures, plus reconstruction of driveway aprons affected by the work.

Residents along Shier Rings Road should expect temporary lane restrictions, shoulder closures and possible driveway access impacts during construction. Access to nearby properties will be maintained, according to the city's project page.

Dublin and Washington Township are coordinating on the project, which is funded through LinkUS, Central Ohio's regional transportation initiative. Construction is expected to wrap up by October.
