Dublin City Council votes Monday, Aug. 24, on a lease that would bring the city's first European-style Christmas market to Riverside Crossing Park in late November.

The market, called Christkindlmarkt Dublin, would run from Nov. 21 through Dec. 24 at the riverfront park, according to the event's official website. Visitors can expect handcrafted gifts, seasonal food and beverages, and holiday entertainment, with 40 to 50 vendor booths planned for the first year according to a feasibility study adopted by council in March.

Resolution 32-26, listed on the council's agenda packet, would authorize city manager Megan O'Callaghan to execute the park lease with Friends of Christkindlmarkt Dublin Inc., the nonprofit organizing the event. An accompanying memo addresses alcohol sales at the market. The resolution is scheduled for introduction, public hearing and vote in a single meeting.

The concept has been in the works since 2022, when council members and city staff began researching German and Austrian holiday markets and visiting similar events across the country, NBC4 reported. The city issued a request for proposals in April and selected Christkindlmarkt Consulting LLC after a competitive process. The firm is led by CEO Maria Adele Rosenfeld, former head of Carmel Christkindlmarkt in Indiana, which USA Today readers have ranked the top holiday market in the country.

"We are beyond excited to bring Christkindlmarkt Dublin to life," Rosenfeld said in November 2025, when the city announced her firm's selection. "Dublin's recognition as a world festival and event city makes it a natural fit for this event."

Tentative hours call for the market to open at 4 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, noon on Fridays and Saturdays, and noon on Sundays, closing at 9 p.m. most nights and 8 p.m. Sundays. Additional holiday hours have not yet been announced.

The feasibility study, conducted by consulting firm Town Square, recommended Riverside Crossing Park as the ideal location and projected the market could eventually expand to 100 booths.

It would be Dublin's largest new holiday event in years.

The city's event calendar lists market dates spanning Nov. 22 through Dec. 24. The public portion of Monday's council meeting begins at 7 p.m. at 5555 Perimeter Drive.
