Cenovus Energy will move its U.S. regional headquarters to a new four-story office building at Bridge Park's J Block, bringing approximately 120 jobs to Dublin as construction officially gets underway on one of the last undeveloped parcels in the mixed-use district's original footprint.

The Calgary-based energy company has operated in Dublin since 2009, most recently from a Tuttle-area office it outgrew after doubling its local workforce over the past three years. Both the City of Dublin and JobsOhio provided tax incentives to secure the relocation, according to Dublin Daily, which reported the news in its Aug. 2 edition.

"Bridge Park was just a no-brainer," Juli LeClair, manager of U.S. regional communications at Cenovus, said in a May feature published by the city's Economic Development office. "The vibrancy, the amenities, being surrounded by well-known brands all align perfectly with where we're headed as a company."

The broader investment is massive.

JobsOhio's project summary lists 115 new jobs committed, 942 jobs retained and a total capital investment of $1.44 billion tied to the headquarters and Cenovus's Lima and Toledo refinery upgrades. The company is investing more than $1.5 billion in those Northwest Ohio refineries over five years, according to BIC Magazine.

Doreen Cole, Cenovus's executive vice president of downstream operations, said when the project was announced in 2024 that Ohio's strategic location, skilled workforce and supportive business environment made Dublin "an obvious choice" over sites the company explored in other states.

Dublin City Council previously approved an economic development agreement with Husky Marketing and Supply Company, the Cenovus subsidiary that has operated locally since becoming part of the Cenovus group in January 2021, according to a city announcement. The specific dollar value of the city's incentive package has not been disclosed publicly.

Cenovus maintains a five-day in-office work schedule, and the new headquarters will include an events space for company-wide gatherings. A hotel next door will support in-person collaboration for employees traveling from the company's other U.S. locations, which include operations in Lima, Toledo and Superior, Wisconsin. The company employs roughly 1,600 people across its U.S. operations.

The office building shares J Block with The Ellis, an 89-unit condo development we reported on Aug. 3. Together, the two buildings fill one of the last open parcels in Bridge Park's 30-acre core, which already holds 456,000 square feet of office space, nearly 750 residential units and 200,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space.

Both the office building and The Ellis are targeted for completion by the end of 2027, with Bridge Park's broader expansion expected to continue for another five to seven years.
