Dublin Coffman's girls volleyball team swept Lancaster 26-24, 25-17, 25-19 on Thursday, Oct. 29, to win the Division I Central District championship at Westerville Central High School.

The Shamrocks trailed in the first set before rallying. Lancaster had built a 23-20 lead, but an unforced error opened the door for Coffman to outscore the Lady Gales 6-1 and take the set, the Lancaster Eagle-Gazette reported. Lancaster never found its footing after that.

"We just couldn't finish things off in that first set, and in that situation, you have to be able to handle the pressure," Lancaster coach Leslie Davenport said. "Winning the first set would have been a whole turn of events for us."

The district title extends Coffman's winning streak to three matches and lifts the Shamrocks to 16-8 overall, according to MaxPreps. Senior outside hitter Maysen Freed has averaged 3.2 kills per set this season.

Coffman's path to the district final included a straight-sets win over Upper Arlington on Oct. 26. Lancaster, which finished 13-10, had reached the title match by beating Worthington Kilbourne in straight sets.
