Dublin families looking for one last summer outing before school starts have four more chances to catch the Abbey Theater's production of "The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical" at Coffman Amphitheater.
Final performances run Aug. 13 through Aug. 16. General admission tickets are $20, with reserved VIP seating also available through the City of Dublin's WebTrac system. No tickets will be sold at the gate.
Director Joe Bishara leads the production, which brings the Greek mythology-infused story of Percy Jackson from page to stage at the outdoor amphitheater in Coffman Park. The Abbey Theater, a city-run program at 5600 Post Road, pairs student performers with professionals, keeping training at the center of every production.
The theater enters its final weekend riding momentum from a strong 2025 season that set a box office record and earned multiple Broadway World nominations. As of February 2025, the Abbey had been named Best Local Theater by Broadway World for three consecutive years, and Bishara had won Best Director four years running.
"The success of the Abbey is about the success of the whole. It's everyone — from those working behind the scenes to the screenwriters, the performing artists and everyone in between," Bishara said on the city's Link Ahead podcast in February 2025.
Coffman Boosters president Josh Mustard supports the theater by raising funds and building feeder paths for young performers. The Abbey's 2026 season also expanded offerings for ages six to nine, adding smaller productions so younger actors can grow alongside older performers on the same set.
Dublin City Schools resume classes the following Aug. 20, making this weekend's run one of the last family entertainment options before backpacks come out.
