The Ohio Moon Festival returns to Riverside Crossing Park on Saturday, Sept. 26, for its 10th year of cultural performances, Asian food and martial arts.

The outdoor festival runs from noon to 9 p.m. and is presented by the Global Asian Cultural Heritage Foundation (GACHF).

The Mid-Autumn Festival, which the Ohio Moon Festival celebrates, is observed across many Asian cultures, including those of China, Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Cambodia, according to the GACHF. The foundation's mission centers on preserving and promoting Asian cultural heritage through education and community events.

The city's event calendar lists the day as "Moon Festival & Kung-Fu Tai-Chi Day." Activities include lion dance performances, martial arts demonstrations, wellness activities, games and prizes, traditional costumes and moon appreciation as the evening sets in.

Sen Gao, president of the GACHF, is scheduled to give a special performance demonstration during the festival, Fox 28 Columbus reported. Kay Zhang, the foundation's vice president, told Dublin City Council at its Aug. 24 meeting that the organization hopes to bring a Tai Chi workshop of 100 to 150 participants to Dublin next year.

Zhang also thanked the city and the mayor for their support of the International USA Martial Arts Championship, which the organization recently held in Dublin. That event featured a Tai Chi workshop the preceding day that drew participants from across the country and from Thailand, China and Brazil.

NBC4 WCMH-TV included the Moon Festival in its roundup of top fall events across central Ohio. The festival is one of several Dublin-area events this weekend.
