Dublin Jerome takes a two-game losing streak to Marysville on Friday, Sept. 25, for the Monarchs' Homecoming football game.

The Celtics' only confirmed win this season came Sept. 4 against Dublin Coffman, a 45-28 result that showed Jerome's offense can produce. But the losses have piled up around it. Reynoldsburg beat Jerome 42-31 on Aug. 28, according to cleveland.com. Westerville Central held Jerome to 10 points in a 16-10 loss on Sept. 11. Then No. 18-ranked New Albany pulled away for a 42-29 win on Sept. 18, according to the Columbus Dispatch.

Jerome's Week 1 result against Westerville South on Aug. 21 was not available in published records.

Across the four confirmed games, Jerome has scored 29 or more points three times. The defense has been the bigger issue, giving up 42 points to both Reynoldsburg and New Albany.

Marysville enters in a similar spot. After a Week 1 opener with an unconfirmed result, the Monarchs beat KIPP Columbus 35-21 on Aug. 28 and edged Lancaster 15-10 on Sept. 4. The two games since have been lopsided. Hilliard Bradley won 41-7 on Sept. 11, and No. 19-ranked Upper Arlington shut Marysville out 28-0 on Sept. 18, according to cleveland.com. The Monarchs have been outscored 69-7 over those two losses.

Homecoming week could energize the hosts. A parade is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, starting near the First United Methodist Church, winding through Uptown Marysville and ending at the Union County Fairgrounds. Marysville Board of Education President Jermaine Ferguson outlined the festivities in a Marysville Matters newsletter published Sept. 21.

"You'll see a lot of our youth sports, all the way to our high school teams," Ferguson said.

A road win would double Jerome's confirmed victory total and give the Celtics a boost heading into the second half of the season. Both teams have lost their last two, so something has to give Friday night.
