Dublin Jerome's volleyball team rallied from an early deficit and swept Marysville 25-20, 25-19, 25-17 on Wednesday, Sept. 16.

The Celtics trailed 10-7 in the first set before pulling away. The Lady Monarchs, missing three players to injury, could not hold the lead.

Marysville was playing without senior hitter Kara Moeller, sidelined with an ankle injury, along with Ava Landry and Mary Grimm, both out with knee problems. Head coach Rebecca Boggs called up junior varsity (JV) players Avery Rogers and Sloane Myers to fill the gaps.

"They played well under the circumstances," Boggs told the Marysville Journal Tribune.

The first set was the tightest. Mya Schroeder's kill gave Marysville a 3-2 edge, and a four-hit violation on Dublin Jerome pushed the lead to 7-5. A block by Camille Chaffin and Maddie Hubbell stretched it to 10-7.

Dublin Jerome clawed back. Reese Knox hammered a kill to cut the deficit to 14-11. Lily Wilczewski then knotted the score at 16-16 with a kill of her own, and the Celtics ripped off a 5-0 run to seize control and close out the set 25-20.

Jerome carried that momentum into the final two sets, winning 25-19 and 25-17 as Marysville's depleted roster wore down. The loss dropped the Lady Monarchs to 4-8 on the season.

The sweep snaps a two-match skid for Jerome. Pickerington North, ranked No. 18 in the state, beat the Celtics 2-0 on Sept. 12, according to MaxPreps. Bloom-Carroll also defeated Jerome 2-0 earlier in the season, per Cleveland.com.
