Dublin Coffman High School will get a new roof after the school board voted 3-0 on Monday, Sept. 14, to approve a resolution for the project.

Board members Tara Seward, Amy Messick and Tiffany deSilva approved the resolution, titled "Building Envelope 2027 Roof Replacement at Coffman HS," as part of a block vote on operations items at the board's regular meeting. No cost estimate or contractor was named in the public minutes. The work is scheduled for 2027.

The term "building envelope" can cover walls and windows in addition to the roof. The resolution's full scope has not been detailed publicly.

The Coffman project follows a pattern of roof repairs across the district. The board approved additional contingency funds in July 2026 for a roof replacement at Wright Elementary and Grizzell Middle School.

At the same Sept. 14 meeting, the board formally ratified Memoranda of Agreement with the Dublin Educators' Association (DEA) and the Dublin Support Association (DSA) for the 2027-28 school year. As we reported Sept. 15, those agreements lock in a 2.25% base pay increase for staff, down from 3% raises in each of the prior two years.

DEA President Donna O'Connor told the board the smaller raise reflected the district's financial outlook. "I think this was the best, safest option to present to … over 1,400 members," O'Connor said at the Sept. 14 meeting, as reported by The Columbus Dispatch.

Superintendent Jennifer Schwanke acknowledged union leaders at the meeting for explaining the district's budget constraints to their members. The district's five-year forecast projects cash reserves will run out by fiscal year 2030.

The board also updated compensation packages for administrators, technical employees and nonbargaining hourly staff for 2027-28 as part of the same block vote.
