Dublin-area commuters heading north into Delaware County have their main route back. SR 315 between SR 750 and U.S. 23 reopened July 31, after a 120-day full closure for erosion and drainage repairs that cost an estimated $3.3 million.

ODOT Columbus District 6 confirmed the reopening on X, saying crews replaced culverts, installed roadside ditches, and constructed retaining walls at three locations along the corridor between Home Road and Bunty Station Road.

The work falls under what ODOT calls "slip repairs," fixing spots where the earth beneath or beside the road has shifted. The agency said the improvements will stabilize the roadway and protect it from future erosion.

The closure began March 30, and forced drivers onto a detour using SR 750 and U.S. 23 for the duration of the project.

What was done

ODOT's project page lists the work under two categories: geologic maintenance/slide repair and culvert preservation. The project, carrying ID 102124, is now marked fully complete across all phases. Construction began in fall 2025 with preparatory work before the full road closure started in March.

SR 315 is the primary north-south arterial connecting Dublin to points north in Delaware County. The four-month detour added time and traffic to SR 750 and U.S. 23, two routes that weren't built to absorb that volume daily.

With the retaining walls and new drainage in place, ODOT expects the stretch to hold up against the kind of hillside slippage that prompted the project. No additional closures or construction phases are listed.
