Franklin County voters should check their assigned polling place before heading to the polls on Tuesday, Nov. 3. More than 54,000 have been reassigned.
The Franklin County Board of Elections mailed postcards to 54,645 registered voters whose polling sites changed for the general election, the New Albany-Gahanna Beacon reported Oct. 22, citing a board press release dated Oct. 15. The board lists 22 polling-location changes countywide and will operate 298 total sites on Election Day.
The changes affect about 6% of the county's 906,247 registered voters, the board said on Facebook. Reasons include storm damage that closed the Barack Recreation Center on Columbus' south side after an August tornado and scheduling conflicts at other sites, according to the Beacon.
The board’s list says Dublin 1-B and 1-F, along with Columbus 60-G, move from Discover Christian Church to Vineyard Columbus Sawmill Campus, 4140 Tuller Road, Dublin.
"We're voting over 3,000 people a day! Voters are coming out, and you have competitive state races!" White told WBNS, as the Beacon reported.
How to check your polling place
Voters can look up their assigned site at vote.franklincountyohio.gov using the "My Registration" tool or by calling 614-525-3100. The board said it will post signs at former polling sites directing voters to new ones.
What ID to bring
Ohio law requires a valid, unexpired photo ID with the voter's name and photograph, according to the Ohio Secretary of State's office. Accepted forms include an Ohio driver's license, state ID card, interim ID from the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV), U.S. passport or passport card, and military or veterans affairs ID cards.
Utility bills, bank statements, out-of-state licenses, Ohio Mobile IDs and insurance cards are not accepted. Voters whose names have changed should bring proof of the legal name change; without it, they must cast a provisional ballot.
No ID? You can still vote
Voters who arrive without a qualifying photo ID can cast a provisional ballot, according to the Secretary of State's office. For that ballot to count, the voter must bring acceptable ID to the Board of Elections within four days after Election Day.
Early voting and deadlines
Early in-person voting at the Franklin County Board of Elections, 1700 Morse Road in Columbus, continues through Sunday, Nov. 1. Remaining hours, according to the Secretary of State's office: Wednesday, Oct. 28, through Friday, Oct. 30, from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 31, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Sunday, Nov. 1, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Absentee ballots must reach the board by 7:30 p.m. on Election Day. A postmark alone does not count. That rule is new under a recent change in Ohio election law, according to the Franklin County Board of Elections.
Polls open at 6:30 a.m. and close at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
