Dublin Jerome's boys soccer team shut out Hilliard Davidson 6-0 on Wednesday, Oct. 28, to win an OHSAA Division I district championship.

The Celtics, defending Division I state champions, advance to the regional tournament with a 16-2-1 record. Jerome will face Olentangy Berlin in the next round, according to the team's MaxPreps schedule.

The 6-0 result marked Jerome's second shutout of Hilliard Davidson this season. The Celtics beat Davidson 2-0 in a regular-season meeting Aug. 20.

The win extended Jerome's postseason run after an 8-0 victory over Grove City in the district semifinal Oct. 21. The Celtics have outscored their two tournament opponents 14-0.

Jerome sits at No. 2 in Ohio and No. 10 nationally in the MaxPreps rankings. The Celtics have scored 74 goals this season while allowing 18, and they hold a 4-0-1 mark in conference play, first in its conference division.

Head coach Nate Maust, the only boys soccer coach in Jerome's history, guided the program to its first-ever Division I state title last fall. That championship came in a penalty-kick shootout against six-time defending champion St. Ignatius at Historic Crew Stadium, according to Dublin City Schools' United Magazine.

Jerome's only two losses this season came against St. Charles, 1-0 on Aug. 27, and St. Ignatius, 2-0 on Oct. 10.

The Celtics face Olentangy Berlin at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, in the regional tournament.
