Dublin Jerome beat Thomas Worthington 31-7 on Friday, Oct. 23, at the Jerome Jungle, sending the Celtics' seniors off with a convincing regular-season finale.
The program's football account posted the result on X, calling it a "great win" on Senior Night. The score was confirmed on SI's statewide scoreboard and by CBS News.
The victory ended a difficult stretch for Dublin football. All three Dublin teams lost in Week 9: Upper Arlington beat Dublin Coffman 42-3, Olentangy edged Jerome 27-21 and Big Walnut shut out Dublin Scioto 54-0, according to The Westerville News.
Jerome entered Friday at 2-7, according to Drew Pasteur's Fantastic 50 predictions site. Thomas Worthington also carried a 2-7 record. Pasteur's model favored the Celtics by 25 points, and Jerome nearly matched the projection with a 24-point margin.
Thomas Worthington had lost to Hilliard Darby 27-20 in Week 9.
The Celtics have leaned on a young roster this season. An ABC 6 preview from early October noted that quarterback Bryce Jenkins and sophomore running back Elliot Cooley were gaining experience through a season that included several close losses. Jerome beat Marysville 45-12 before that preview but struggled to close out tight games in other weeks.
No individual stats or scoring breakdown from Friday's game were available as of Saturday.
In the other Dublin results from Week 10, Coffman fell to Hilliard Bradley 42-21. Dublin Scioto's result against Westerville North was not reported on either scoreboard.
Week 10 was the final week of the regular season for Columbus-area teams, with playoff berths and seeding on the line. OHSAA playoff brackets had not been released as of Saturday.
