Cardinal Health reported what CEO Jason Hollar called "a standout year" on Aug. 11, posting $254.2 billion in revenue and signaling double-digit profit growth ahead for Ohio's largest company by revenue.

The healthcare distributor headquartered at 7000 Cardinal Place in Dublin said fiscal year 2026 revenue climbed 14% from the prior year's $222.6 billion, according to the company's earnings release. Non-GAAP earnings per share jumped 37% to $11.26, up from $8.24 in fiscal 2025.

"The broad-based operational strength for the year, with all five of our operating segments growing profit double-digits … reflects the disciplined execution of our strategy and our investments for growth," Hollar said in the release.

All five operating segments posted double-digit profit increases. Non-GAAP operating earnings rose 30% to $3.6 billion company-wide. The Pharmaceutical and Specialty Solutions segment, Cardinal Health's largest business, grew segment profit 23% to $2.3 billion. The company's "Other" segment, which includes Nuclear and Precision Health Solutions, OptiFreight Logistics and at-Home Solutions, posted revenue of $5.4 billion (up 26%) and profit of $516 million (up 37%).

The fourth quarter alone brought in $63.7 billion in revenue, a 6% increase, with non-GAAP EPS rising 40% to $2.91.

Looking ahead

Cardinal Health issued fiscal 2027 guidance projecting non-GAAP EPS of $12.40 to $12.60, representing 13% to 15% growth. That growth rate is calculated off an adjusted fiscal 2026 baseline that excludes a one-time $100 million benefit from IEEPA tariff refunds in the company's Global Medical Products and Distribution segment.

The outlook factors in two recently announced acquisitions. On July 24, Cardinal Health announced a combined $360 million deal to acquire Strive Medical and AdaptHealth's Diabetes Health business, adding more than 245,000 patients to its at-Home Solutions platform. "These strategic transactions build on the synergies created by our recent investments in home care," Hollar said at the time of that announcement.

For fiscal 2027, the company also projects approximately $1 billion in share repurchases, $700 million in capital expenditures and non-GAAP adjusted free cash flow of $3.5 billion to $4.0 billion.

Local footprint

Cardinal Health ranks among the top 20 on the Fortune 500 and employs approximately 48,000 people globally across nearly 60 countries. The company operates a 250,000-square-foot west campus in Dublin, according to NBC4.

The board also approved a quarterly dividend of $0.5158 per share, payable Oct. 15 to shareholders of record as of Oct. 1. The dividend was first raised to that level in May.
