Dublin Jerome shut out Olentangy Orange 2-0 on Thursday, Sept. 24, at the Jerome Jungle on senior night. The win snapped a one-game skid and gave the program's graduating class a victory on their home field.

The Celtics improved to 9-2 on the season. Jerome is ranked No. 5 in Ohio and No. 14 nationally in the MaxPreps girls soccer rankings.

Jerome has allowed just nine goals in 11 games while scoring 37.

Head coach Georgi Petrov's squad entered the night needing a response. Jerome had dropped a 3-2 decision at Olentangy Berlin on Tuesday, Sept. 22, one of two losses this fall. The other came against Upper Arlington, 2-0, on Sept. 3.

The non-conference matchup against Olentangy Orange provided the reset. The Pioneers carried a 5-5-3 conference record into the game and were coming off a 1-6 loss at Upper Arlington on Sept. 22.

Dublin Jerome Athletics announced the senior night celebration on social media Thursday, calling on fans to support the graduating class at the Jerome Jungle.

Jerome returned several key players this fall from last season's Division I regional semifinalist squad, which finished 12-2-4, according to the Columbus Dispatch in an Aug. 26 preseason preview.

Among them is Blake Sobczak, a forward who earned OCC-Cardinal Player of the Year, first-team all-state and all-district honors last season after posting 15 goals and five assists. Sobczak is committed to Mississippi State.

Cleveland.com ranked Jerome No. 17 in its preseason poll, citing Sobczak's return. The Celtics have climbed past that mark through 11 games, sitting at No. 5 in the state.

Jerome returns to action Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 7:15 p.m. with a home conference match against Olentangy. Road games follow at Thomas Worthington on Oct. 6 and at Big Walnut on Oct. 13, both at 7:15 p.m.
