Dublin Jerome's girls soccer team broke open a scoreless game with five second-half goals, beating Marysville 5-0 in a conference match at home Sept. 8.

The varsity squad went into halftime locked at 0-0, according to the Dublin Jerome Girls Soccer program on X. Then the Celtics found another gear. All five goals came after the break, and three goalkeepers combined for the shutout.

The JVA squad also won earlier in the evening, staying unbeaten at home this season. The JVA final score was not posted.

The Celtics, defending 2024 Ohio Capital Conference and district champions, played in front of a home crowd at the Jerome Jungle. Both the girls soccer and volleyball programs opened their home schedules at the venue Aug. 27.

Tuesday's match doubled as Teacher Appreciation Night at Dublin Jerome. A recognition ceremony took place at 7 p.m. between the JVA and varsity contests, which started at 5:30 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.

The five-goal outburst marked a bounce-back for the Celtics, who fell 2-0 to Upper Arlington at home Sept. 3. A Columbus-area Division I ranking posted by @girls_scores on X had listed Dublin Jerome at No. 1 and Upper Arlington at No. 5 heading into that matchup.

The soccer match was one half of a two-sport doubleheader announced by Dublin Jerome Athletics. The volleyball team also hosted Westerville Central's Warhawks on Tuesday, though no result for that match was available as of Wednesday.

The volleyball result and upcoming schedules for both programs had not been posted at the time of publication.
