Big Walnut rolled to a 54-0 shutout of Dublin Scioto on Friday, Oct. 16, spoiling Senior Night for the Irish.

The Golden Eagles scored 33 points in the first quarter alone and led 54-0 at halftime, according to a Delaware-area football roundup. Neither team scored in the second half.

Big Walnut, ranked No. 2 in cleveland.com's Central Ohio top 10 entering the week, improved to 9-0 overall and 5-0 in Ohio Capital Conference (OCC) Capital Division play. Senior quarterback Eli Stumpf, a Michigan State commit, and senior running back Nolan Buirley, who entered the game with 14 rushing touchdowns and 130.2 rushing yards per game, have powered the Golden Eagles' unbeaten run, according to MaxPreps.

Scioto Athletics had promoted the game as Senior Night for both football and cheerleading. Receiver Michael Galloway and running back Dom Clardy were identified as key playmakers for the Irish in a pregame broadcast preview. The loss dropped Scioto to 1-8 on the season.

Jerome rallies but falls short at Olentangy

Dublin Jerome fought back from a 21-7 first-quarter deficit but could not complete the comeback in a 27-21 loss at Olentangy High School.

Olentangy scored all 21 of its first-half points in the opening quarter, taking a 21-7 lead into halftime. Jerome cut the margin to 27-14 in the third quarter and outscored the Braves 7-0 in the fourth, but the early hole proved too deep, according to the Delaware-area roundup.

The Celtics fell to 2-7 overall. Jerome has dropped three straight since beating Marysville on Sept. 25, with losses to Hilliard Darby, Olentangy Berlin and Olentangy, according to MaxPreps.
