Dublin Scioto's marching band will appear the Ohio Music Education Association State Marching Band Finals for the 30th consecutive year. The streak dates to the school's founding.

The band performs its show, "The Happiness Conspiracy," at a tentative time of 12:30 p.m. Oct. 31 at Hilliard Bradley High School in Hilliard, according to the Dublin Music Boosters. Scioto is not the only Dublin band heading to state. Dublin Jerome performs at 10:45 a.m. and Dublin Coffman at 11 a.m. the same day at the same venue.

Band director Andy Doherty announced the milestone in the program's weekly newsletter, calling on families and fans to show up Oct. 31. The band's website says the marching band has reached State Marching Band Finals every year of the school's existence, calling it "the most winning program in the 30 year history of Dublin Scioto."

The streak is not the only recent highlight. Scioto placed 14th at the Bands of America competition in Obetz, a result Doherty called "a MASSIVE accomplishment" in the band's Oct. 13 newsletter. The program also won the 2024 Metallica Marching Band Competition, which brought $20,000 to the band, according to the band's website.

Before the state finals, Dublin residents can catch all three high school bands at the Dublin Band Showcase on Thursday, Oct. 15, at 7 p.m. at Dublin Jerome High School Stadium. The event, organized by the Dublin Music Boosters, is free.

The showcase was originally scheduled at a different location but moved to Jerome, according to the band's newsletter.

Tickets for the Oct. 31 state finals are $10 for adults, $7 for seniors and school-age children, and free for children under 5. Parking is $5, cash only. A livestream of all four days of the OMEA State Marching Band Finals is available for $25 through the OMEA Network.

Hilliard Bradley High School is at 2800 Walker Rd. in Hilliard.
