Dublin residents can get free help sorting through Medicare options at a session the city's Forever Dublin Hub is hosting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28.
The session takes place at the Forever Dublin Hub inside Syntero, 299 Cramer Creek Court. Experts from Forever Dublin and the Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program (OSHIIP) will answer questions and walk attendees through their coverage choices, according to the city's event listing.
The timing matters. Medicare Open Enrollment runs from Oct. 15 through Dec. 7, and any changes made during that window take effect Jan. 1, 2027, according to a Forever Dublin guide on the enrollment period. During open enrollment, Medicare recipients can switch Medicare Advantage plans, change prescription drug coverage or move between Medicare Advantage and Original Medicare.
Even people satisfied with their plans have reason to check in. Costs, benefits and participating providers can shift from year to year, the guide noted.
The Forever Dublin Hub, a partnership between the City of Dublin and Syntero, connects adults 55 and older with resources for aging in place, including free one-on-one navigator sessions on Medicare, transportation and housing.
OSHIIP, run by the Ohio Department of Insurance, provides free, unbiased Medicare counseling statewide. The program has trained and certified more than 800 volunteer counselors across Ohio, according to the department's website.
Residents who cannot attend the session can reach OSHIIP at 1-800-686-1578. Appointments are available Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at 614-889-5722, ext. 810.
The city asks attendees to RSVP through its online form ahead of the event.
