Dublin City Council will hold a special meeting Monday, Oct. 19, to consider the employment of a public employee in executive session.
The meeting agenda lists a single item: "Personnel Matters: Considering the Employment of a Public Employee." The session is set for 4:30 p.m. at 5555 Perimeter Drive.
The agenda does not name the position under discussion. But the special meeting comes one week after council accepted City Manager Megan O'Callaghan's resignation, which takes effect Nov. 13. As we reported Oct. 13, council accepted her departure at its Oct. 12 regular meeting.
That Oct. 12 meeting also included an executive session with the same description, according to the meeting agenda packet. Council went into closed session before reconvening for the regular meeting at 7 p.m.
O'Callaghan served nearly 13 years with the city, joining in 2014 as public service director during what the city called "a pivotal period of growth and development." She oversaw infrastructure supporting the Bridge Street District redevelopment before serving as director of public works and deputy city manager. She became Dublin's sixth city manager in October 2022, according to a city announcement.
Mayor Chris Amorose Groomes said in the Oct. 12 announcement that the city appreciates O'Callaghan's contributions. "We look forward to continuing our work on behalf of the City's residents and wish Megan well," Groomes said.
O'Callaghan said in the same announcement that she was "proud of what we have accomplished together and grateful for the opportunity to have contributed to this community."
The agenda does not identify the employee or position, and the city has not specified whether the discussion concerns the city manager vacancy.
The meeting’s opening and reconvened portions are public; the executive-session discussion is closed.
